How to makeover for a large living room?

A large livingroom makeover SOMETIMES CAN BE MORE AWKWARD THAN SMALLER SPACES!

Many modern family homes nowadays where they have lots of windows and sliding doors onto outdoor spaces, which can make it really tricky to makeover! In today’s video, I am going to show you some tips and tricks to makeover a large living room. Stay tuned and keep watching!

The scope of this family is it needs to be super family-friendly. There’s a TV on the wall, a beautiful chandelier I’m left to play within the back. I need to make it a space for all of the family. So at least six, seven, or eight people can sit down, enjoy the TV, but they really want that elegant style to it as well. So let’s see what I can do!

Giant rug for connection!

Now, if we plunk some lounges and coffee tables here in the space of this size, it would feel disconnected because it is so large. So I will put a giant oversized rug here. This is a four-by-three-meter rug. It is very light in color, but I’ve made sure that there’s not only pattern and color variation across it. There’s also texture variation across it. So if there are any bit spills or thrills in this house, they will go unnoticed on this rug.

We have this vast sectional corner lounge with a chaise in here. It should easily fit six to eight watching the telly at the drop of a hat.

But for me, the room’s all a little bit below the waist. There’s no interest on the walls，

and without light, there is no life.

NOW SOME STYLING！

In the large living room makeover, we need to get some beautiful lights; functional tables; and some art on the walls next.

And… Done!

A playful and fun space. Plenty of movement, plenty of colors! And a little dash of the feminine.

The perfect space for this family to relax and enjoy the summer ahead!

Now we all know they have their TV wall, an entertainment unit behind us. But the brief is that this is a bit of an adult space. It does not mean to be all about the TV!

Hence, we’ve disguised it with the paneled wall, so we need to be careful about creating that adult conversational space while allowing it to be a TV room when required!

Large living room makeover- Step 1

I’m a huge fan of area rugs. Even though this is on the carpet, I’m going to pop one into these spaces. It’s going to give it that grown-up feel. It’s going to give me a place to anchor two beautiful big three-seater lounges on to.

Now I’m going to pop these two lounges in a way that not many people usually would in a room with a TV. I’m going to pop them opposing one another, so they’re a conversational lounge field rather than a simple TV room.

Large living room makeover- Step 3

We have all of the large pieces in place. We have our lounges entertainment unit and coffee table. You’ll notice that I’ve anchored the front legs of the lounges on the rug. That is a minimum and a must！

I have about 300 mils between the lounge and the wall so that this space works. Imagine some cheese and wine and adult conversation in here. Every single person sitting on this lounge can grab their next piece of cheese or top up their wine.

I set some throws and some floor cushions for extra people who pop over and need a spare seat.

And… DONE!

Perfect size with sides table for a glass of wine and even a PlayStation 4 when the adults want to become a little bit more like kids!
