I think most of us can agree that our bedroom receives a lot less attention compared to other rooms in our home. Just because our bedrooms our out of sights from guests doesn’t mean we should let them become uninspiring spaces. After all we do spend more time in our bedroom than any other of our rooms, so here are 7 affordable, easy ways to refresh your space.
Start with a Declutter
The dreaded word: declutter. The impact of decluttering is huge, it is also free and requires no planning at all. Explore your bedside table, dresser, and floor for anything that isn’t beautiful or needed on a regular basis. Anything in this category should be stored somewhere else. This is also a great opportunity to consider what you can donate, gift or throw away – leaving you with a simplified space.
Bring in Some Greenery
This is a no brainer. Adding greenery to every room of your house, including your bedroom, is so effective in adding life and colour to a dull space.
Roll Out a Rug
Rugs are the perfect way to pull a whole room together, they create a sense of balance and divide zones. Subject to your budget, your bed could rest on a large rug or a smaller rug could be added to the side of the bed for a decorative look.
Lighten it Up
Good lighting evokes a peaceful and even romantic feeling in your bedroom. Don’t let all your lighting come from ceiling lights – consider adding one or two lamps to your bedside tables. Lambs produce a softer, warmer light perfect for reading or creating your desired mood. If it suits your space, you could also consider hanging pendant lights on either side of your bed with the help of an electrician.
Hang some Art
Art adds so much to any bedroom. Whether an original piece, print or photography, art of any price tag is a beautiful feature that can personalise your space.
Add a Mirror
A mirror is a powerful accessory, not only do they look beautiful but they also open up your bedroom making to feel larger and luxurious.
Consider a Theme
Knowing the style or colours you would like to incorporate into your bedroom will make the space feel even more complete and personalised. Stalk Pinterest, Instagram, magazines, anything you can draw inspiration from to consolidate the style you want to go for.
