Today, I want to talk to you about an office in a box.
“What’s that?” I hear you ask.
So many people email me saying that they’re in the startup phase of their business or their micro-business and they’re working from home.
They don’t have a lot of space and they even share their office space with their kids and their spouse or it’s the study nook at home. They want to know how they can have an amazing space in this situation.
It is totally doable and there’s a little bit of a twist on it.
I have this notion that I call an Office in a Box. In many cases, a lot of the entrepreneurs that we work with in our Space Medicine Membership, the kids go off to school and they literally start working on their dining room table, or on their breakfast bar.
They find that to be able to create a space that nurtures them and helps them grow and thrive is a little transient.
What we’re looking to put together for you guys is an office in a box.
It’s a box that could contain all the things that you need to help you thrive.
Whether your thing is plants and beautiful stationary or whether it’s candles and great technology or whatever it might be – because it’s essential that space medicine includes your muse – you can keep all of this in a box.
You know that when you get out everything you do the work, once the kids get off to school, wherever you’re set up.
It might be that you choose, depending on what day you’re working and what your focus is, a completely different environment to work in.
In that case, you literally take the box with you and everything you need is in there.
It’s obviously a metaphorical box.You could use it as a box or you could have an amazing tote that have everything that you need in there.
That way, when it comes time to sit down and focus on work:
- all the items that trigger that in you
- that trigger the creativity and the productivity
- attach you to nature
- give you full spectrum lighting
- and allow you to be focused and creative are right at your fingertips.
Then, when it’s time to finish, it packs up and it goes away.
The office in a box is a great idea for people who are house sharing, or for people that don’t have a work or an office space at home.
The twist on it that I mentioned earlier is that if you’re sharing your study area or your office area with the kids or a teenager studying, or your spouse who is a little messy, it can actually reverse the wrong on them and give them the office in a box.
One of the things I do in my home office space is I have an office in a box for my five and my three year old.
If there’s a time where I need to be working at home – whether it’s at the breakfast bar or whether it’s in the office – I grab out their office in a box.
Which has all the things that they love doing while mom is working – and we create an office space for them.
This can quickly and easily be set up and packed up into the box so that my day-to-day space, if I chose to work there at any given day, isn’t cluttered.
There is my office in a box idea. You never know, you might make something of that and you might see office in a box coming out really soon to you guys.
Thanks for listening and I will see you next week to help you with some more tips to create healthy, wealthy and beautiful spaces.
